Atlin Frank Gabler, 81, of Schulenburg, Texas, passed away on February 25, 2024. He was born on August 28, 1942, in Schulenburg, to his parents, Elsa and Alfred Gabler.
Atlin married Dorothy Klesel on February 25, 1962, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Atlin was a very hardworking person who found joy in various aspects of life. He graduated from Schulenburg High School and went on to a fulfilling career. At different points in life, Atlin served as Fayette County Constable, Atlin and Dorothy owned Gabler's Fried Chicken, and Atlin owned and operated Gabler's Catering with his brother Milton Gabler. He also worked at UTEXIndustries and cherished the relationships he formed at all of these businesses.
In his free time, Atlin enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, hog hunting, and family camping trips. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Atlin is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gabler; daughters, Debbie Akridge of Austin, Susie Kalich and her husband Harold from Schulenburg, Missy Rerich and her husband Paul from Weimar; grandchildren, Sasha Akridge, Trey Akridge, Joshua Kalich, Trevor Kalich, Kendra Neskora, Brandi Rerich, and Dustin Rerich; 7 great grandchildren; and by two siblings, Janice Gabler Fonokalafi from Channelview, and Steve Gabler of Schulenburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 5 brothers.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg. The family will receive friends beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the parish rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose of Lima Church or School, or to Hospice of South Texas, or to a charity of your choice.
