Barbara Vecera, 59, of Schulenburg, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2025, surrounded by her closest loved ones.
She was born on April 29, 1966, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jerry and Connie Asbury. Barbara recently celebrated 17 years of marriage to her loving husband, Gerald Vecera, whom she loved and cared for deeply.
Barbara was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Vecera; her parents, Jerry and Connie Asbury; her daughters, Scarlet Schrembs and husband Justin, with their children Hunter and Logan, and Leslie Frederick and husband Layne, with their children Braden and Camden; and her stepchildren, Cody Vecera and wife Paige, with their children Saylor, Sutton, and Sterling, and Holly Treptow and husband Jonathan, with their children Nate and Nash.
She is also survived by her brothers Wayne Asbury and wife Erica, and Fred Asbury and wife Ruby. Her cousin, Michelle Bettis-Leal, was not only family but also her best friend and sister in heart. Barbara also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members who will carry her memory forward.
Barbara's greatest joy was her family and she loved them deeply. Her faith in God was the foundation of her life, and her warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her devotion to loved ones, and her unwavering faith.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. from the chapel. Interment will follow in Old High Hill Cemetery in High Hill.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Brain Tumor Association,8550 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Suite 550, Chicago, IL 60631, to support brain cancer research and patient care.
