Obituary

Carlton J. Baca passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at his home in Weimar at the age of 93.

He was born in Schulenburg on September 21, 1931, to Adolph Joseph Baca and Hattie Ann (Burger) Baca, and attended Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School and Schulenburg High School.  On July 24, 1951, he married Josephine Pytlovany at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar and together, they lived in Tacoma, Washington, Houston, and Dallas, before returning back home.

He is survived by his son, Michael Baca and wife Beverly (Divin) of Brenham; and daughters, Karen (Baca) Standish and husband Michael of Georgetown; Joan Baca and Diane Ferrell of Mesquite; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Guettermann; two brothers Douglas and wife Joy Baca, and Curtis Baca; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; three sisters, Geraldine, Marzaline Kunz, and Helen Mauldin; and two brothers, AJ and Emmanual.

The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. with the rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Weimar. Interment will follow in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons; Daniel and Anthony Baca, Cory and Jack Finch, Ray Shedd, Darren and Devin May and Kristofer Baca-Hernandez

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his memory to St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, St. Michael Catholic School, or Hospice of South Texas.
