Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 2 pm from the St. John Catholic Church in St. John Texas. Visitation will begin to the public after 5 pm on Monday, July 11 with the Parish rosary to be recited Monday evening at 7 pm from the Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg, Texas.

Interment will be in the St. John Catholic Cemetery, St. John, Texas. The family has requested donations be made to the St. John Catholic Church, St. John, Texas; Hospice of South Texas, Hallettsville, Texas; or a charity of one's choice. Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Schulenburg VFW and American Legion.

David passed away at his home in St. John, surrounded by his loving wife, Lorine of 52 years, his children and grandchildren in the early morning of Saturday, July 9, 2016. He is survived by his wife Lorine; his children: Terri Kubenka of Arizona, Michele Kubos and spouse David Kubos of St. John, Paula Polasek and spouse Len Polasek of Rockport, Jeffrey Kubenka and spouse Jana Kubenka of San Antonio; his grandchildren Dalton Bubela, Wyatt and John Hayden Bush, Logan, Kaylee and Kelsey Polasek; and one great-grandson, Bentley Bubela. He is also survived by his brother Jerry Kubenka, Jr. and wife Jenny Kubenka of Schulenburg, his sister Rita Mican and spouse J.D. Mican of Bastrop, Cathy Divin and husband David Divin of Weimar, sisters-in-law Gladys Kubenka of Moulton, and Judy Kubenka of Schulenburg; and 21 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Theresa Kubenka of Praha and his brothers James Kubenka, Ernest Kubenka, and Steven Kubenka. He is also preceded by his mother and father-in-law, Frank and Hattie Berger of St. John.

David Kubenka built a life and his business, Kubenka Welding Works in St. John's, Texas. He was a military veteran, devoted to his work, his family, his church and his friends. David was a 1962 graduate of Bishop Forest High School. David and Lorine loved to dance to their favorite Czech band and enjoyed those times with close friends and relatives. He will be greatly missed and always loved.
