Dorothy Adela Bartos passed away peacefully the morning of February 25, 2024 at the Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center.  She was born on December 31, 1929 in Hallettsville, Texas, to Herman and Adela Popp of High Hill, Texas. Dorothy spent her childhood with her three brothers helping to work the family farm where she developed the traits of thrift, self-reliance, restraint, modesty, selflessness, and a steadfast work ethic. She completed her studies at the nursing school in Hallettsville and became a licensed LVN.

On July 15, 1951, she married the love of her life, Leonard F. Bartos, and they were able to celebrate 68 years together until his death in 2019. Shortly after their marriage, she and Leonard moved to Weimar as new owners of Farmer's Drug Store, but her focus soon turned to raising her cherished family of five.  A devoted wife and mother, Dorothy poured her heart into nurturing her loved ones.  Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support created a home filled with love and laughter.  Outside of her family life, Dorothy especially loved hosting her bridge group, attending dinner clubs, going dancing with friends, and traveling.  Leonard and Dorothy were lifelong active members of St. Michael's Church and Dorothy was a dedicated member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Wayne Bartos (Annette), Myra Duncan (Carl), Bill Bartos (Victoria), Randy Bartos (Jennifer), and Mark Bartos (Carrie); twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one brother, Leon Popp.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; and her brothers, Alton and Herman, Jr.

Visitation will be at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg on Thursday, February 29, 2024, starting at 5:00 p.m. with Rosary to follow at 6:30 p.m.  Funeral services will be on Friday, March 1, 2024, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Weimar with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the Funeral Mass starting at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
