Harold L. Reynolds, Jr., 85, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026. He was born on February 4, 1941, in Towanda, Pennsylvania, to Harold L. Reynolds Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Stephens Reynolds.

Harold graduated from Horseheads Central High School in 1957 and joined the US Marine Corps a few months later. He served with the 2nd and 3rd Marine Divisions (C-3-Recon). During his eight and a half years in the Corps, he served at posts in Okinawa, Vietnam, and at the Marine Corps Schools in Quantico. He attained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and received several commendations: two Good Conduct Medals, Vietnamese Service Medal, Rifle Marksmanship, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

After his honorable discharge from the Corps, Harold returned to Buffalo, NY, where he was employed by the S. M. Flickinger Company and served as a firefighter and company officer for the South Line Fire District #10 in Cheektowaga, NY, which inspired a deep passion for the fire service. In 1980, Harold and his wife, Karry, moved to Austin, Texas, where he worked and retired from Austin Energy, where he served as a safety officer. He served as a firefighter and company officer with the Southeast Travis County Fire District, was an officer with the Capital Area Fire Chiefs Association and was a founding member of the Capital Area Interagency Wildfire Academy. Harold was a proud member of the International Fire Chiefs Association and the Travis County Firefighters Association.

Harold's hobbies and passions focused on his co-workers at Austin Energy and his brothers and sisters of the fire community. He loved Smokey Bear and was an ardent supporter of the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.

Harold is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karry Norton Reynolds.

A Remembrance Barbecue will be held in his honor on the evening of October 15, 2026, at the 28th annual Capital Area Interagency Wildfire Academy at Camp Swift in Bastrop County.
