Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11 am from the First Baptist Church in Hallettsville, Texas.  Visitation will begin to the public after 10 am Saturday morning from the church.  Interment will be in the Hallettsville City Cemetery, Hallettsville, Texas.  Survivors include: wife-Betty Repka of Hallettsville; daughter-Rhonda McConnell/husband-Allan of Houston; son-Bruce Repka/wife-Shara of Hallettsville; brother-Dennis "Shorty" Repka/wife-Diane of Hallettville; sister-in-law-Kathy Chaney Repka; aunt-Margaret Kucera and grandson-Nicholas McConnell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother.   The family has requested memorial donations be sent to:  Henry Repka Memorial Scholarship C/O  Hallettsville High School Band, P. O. Box 368, Hallettsville, Texas 77964.

A life-long musician, Henry's love and passion for music began at an early age.  He played alto saxophone in the Hallettsville Sacred Heart School band and played with several local bands during his high school years and beyond.  He formed his own band and added tenor saxophone, trumpet and clarinet to his collection of instruments.  In 1991 he was awarded the Male Vocalist of the Year award by the Texas Polka Music Association and was recognized for the Song of the Year and Album of the year.

Treasured friendships were formed as he enjoyed a musical career that spanned over 60 years.

While living in Aldine, a suburb of Houston, he was affectionately known as the "dog man of Hollyvale" because of his love and companionship with his dogs.  Over the years he loved and nurtured many rescued dogs that became his traveling buddies when commuting between Houston or Sealy and Hallettsville.  He loved nature and had compassion for all animals, not wanting harm to come to any.
