Jeanette Brandt Treybig was born November 15, 1925, near Columbus, Texas, in Colorado County. She died of natural causes on October 24, 2023, in The Woodlands, Texas. She was the oldest child and only daughter of Gerhard Alfred Brandt and Linda Berger Brandt. She had two younger brothers, Wilfred and Royce, who both preceded her in death.

She is survived by three children: David H. (Teddi) Treybig, Kenneth (Kathy) Treybig, and Karen Treybig Doig; seven grandchildren: Sharon Babcock, Kevin Treybig, David J. Treybig, Kamie Stoner, Justin Doig, Brian Doig, and Ethan Doig; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Jeanette's husband of 57 years, Harold, preceded her in death on December 18, 2005.

Jeanette grew up on a farm helping milk cows, pick cotton, harvest corn and tend the large garden the family had every year.

She graduated from high school in 1942 at the age of 16 since she was able to start first grade at age five. She was in the top one percent of her class and came to Houston to attend Southwestern Business University. The school arranged for her to live with a nearby Jewish family and take care of their 6-year-old daughter in exchange for her room and board.

After completing her business courses, Southwestern Business University found her a job at Jackson Motors on Main Street, where she started as the PBX operator and did stenographic work. While working, she took night classes at the University of Houston.

She soon met Harold Treybig at Zion Lutheran Church at a watermelon party for the Luther League for young people. After meeting and learning that she was also a student at the University of Houston, Harold (who was studying to become a Certified Public Accountant) began giving her a ride home after their classes at the university ended each evening. Realizing that they were both of German ancestry, that they both attended the Lutheran Church, that they both liked to dance and enjoyed watermelon, Jeanette thought they would be a good match. They were married on April 10, 1948.

Jeanette worked at Jackson Motors for six years. She was the head bookkeeper when she left the company to devote herself to her growing family.

In May 1953 Jeanette and Harold were baptized as members of the Church of God. Both remained faithful members throughout their lives and traveled to many international sites to keep the Feast of Tabernacles, an annual observance of the Church. Through their travels and service within the church, Harold and Jeanette made many friends throughout the world.

Jeanette was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed sewing, reading, and preparing healthy meals for her family. A favorite pastime was having a meal with friends and playing cards or dominoes. She also assisted her husband, Harold, in his CPA practice and in his service to the church as an elder.
