Memorial services for Jessie L. Mendel, age 76, of St. John, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. John. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the rosary to be prayed at 10:00 a.m. from the church. Inurnment will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Jessie is survived by his wife, Barbara Mendel; daughter, Tanya Sykes and husband Bryan; grandchildren, Hunter Sykes and wife Vianey, and Dylan Sykes; great-grandchildren, Eliza and Axel; stepdaughters, Heather Sgro and husband Mike, and Kristi Bludau and husband Bradley; step-grandchildren, Jacob and Olivia Sgro, and James and Savannah Bludau.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Charlene and Liz; parents, Robert and Martha Brossmann Mendel; sisters, Andre Kainer and husband Leroy, Gladys Chaloupka and husband Johnny; brother, Bobby Mendel and wife Peggy.
