Jesus "Sandillon"
Lara
Nov 20, 1968 — Jan 30, 2024
It is with great sorrow to announce that Jesus Lara has passed away on January 30, 2024, at the age of 55. He was born November 20, 1968, to the late Timoteo Lara and Maria Nino in a small town of Bledos de Villa de Reyes, San Luis Potosi Mexico. He was the fourth of ten children who were raised in a humble home. At the age of 11, he developed a passion for playing the bass guitar.
He grew up and decided to migrate to the United States in 1984. He returned to get married to his wife, Maria De La Luz. He went on to have 4 children: Carlos, Gaby, Alex, and Keven.
He is best remembered as a loving father, soccer and baseball enthusiast, and musician. In the late 90s - early 2000s he played alongside his brothers in a Spanish band called Los Tiburones Del Norte. Los Tiburones Del Norte traveled all throughout Texas and many states on tour.
Jesus was a self-starter and self-taught businessman. J. Lara Construction was known in the tri-county area for providing services from remodels to new construction. Jesus took pride in his family, work, and his soccer Sundays. You most definitely would hear him yelling and coaching from the sidelines when his sons would play on Sundays. Jesus was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he had an enormous heart and a sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and outspoken. He was clever and full of the brim of knowledge gained through all his life experiences. He enjoyed wearing superhero t-shirts and would display his iconic hair style like no other…including getting a decal of his ponytail on his company vehicle. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He was passionate about every aspect of his life and his favorite quote was "Be all that you CAN be."
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Maria de Luz Lara Amaro; sons, Carlos Lara and wife Julie Lara of Schulenburg, Alex Lara and wife Samantha Lara of Houston, Keven Lara of Schulenburg; daughter, Gaby Lara of San Antonio; grandchildren, Aiden, Hayden, Keenly, and Frank; brothers, Juan Lara, Quirino Lara, Mariano Lara, Cornelio Lara, and Juan Pablo Lara; and sisters, Liandra Lara, Carmela Lara, Josefina Lara, and Maria Lara.
He preceded in death by his parents, Timoteo Lara and Maria Nino.
Services will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg on Monday, February 5, 2024. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. The parish rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. and funeral mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery.
