Kathryn Janet Muzny Schneider, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by her family in League City, Texas. She and her devoted husband, Marvin James Schneider, have called League City home since 1998.

Born in Weimar, Texas, Kathryn was the daughter of George and Olivia (Skotnik) Muzny. After graduating from Weimar High School in 1956, she worked as a legal secretary in Columbus. She later moved to College Station with Marvin and worked as an administrative secretary for the Division of Architecture at Texas A&M while he pursued his graduate engineering degree. They were married in St. Mary's Church, adjacent to the Texas A&M campus. Their life together took them across Texas, to Ingrandes, France and to New Orleans, where Kathryn developed a love for Cajun cooking and Mardi Gras. She was a dedicated Texas Aggie and she loved the beach house in Galveston, which she and Marvin built upon his retirement.

Kathryn's life was filled with music, creativity, and love. A talented musician, she sang in the choir and played organ for her churches. She also performed as a walk-on singer at many piano bars around the Houston area, leading "Kathy & Co.," a Big Band-style group that performed in the '80s and '90s. Though just 4'10", "Mimi," as her grandchildren called her, had a presence that filled every room. She was known for her warmth, laughter, and the delicious meals she lovingly prepared.

Kathryn will be remembered for her joy, music, dancing, cooking, oil painting, needlework, volunteerism, and the deep love she shared with her family and friends. Her volunteerism was always directed toward her children, including being the President of the Parent-Teacher Organization at Eisenhower Elementary in New Orleans and the Westfield High School Band Booster Club in Houston.

Kathryn is survived by her husband of 65 years, Marvin, whom she met in the 7th grade; daughters, Lara Elizabeth Kearney (husband Donald) of League City, Texas; and Paula Schneider Alexander (husband Bruce) of Durham, North Carolina; grandchildren, Brendan Michael Kearney, Erin Nicole Kearney, Nathan Avery Alexander, and Kathryn Ann Alexander; and siblings, Joyce Dare, Nell Carpenter, and George Muzny.

Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from the Weimar United Church. Interment will follow in the Muzny family plot in the Weimar Masonic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kathryn's memory to the American Cancer Society, the Wounded Warrior Project, or a charity of your choice.
