Marvin James Timothy Schneider, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 87, surrounded by family in League City, Texas.

Born on September 2, 1938, to Herbert Leo Schneider of Weimar, Texas, and Anna Marie Bednarz of Schulenburg, Texas, Marvin graduated from Weimar High School and went on to earn both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. A proud Aggie through and through, Marvin recently renewed his professional engineering license—an enduring reflection of his lifelong commitment to learning and excellence.

On May 30, 1960, Marvin married his childhood sweetheart, Kathryn Janet Muzny, in College Station, Texas. Their 65 year marriage was marked by deep partnership, devotion, and love for family. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and care for others.

Marvin proudly served his country as a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and was commissioned as a U.S. Army Artillery Officer, stationed in France reaching the rank of Captain. His Aggie legacy ran deep and extended across generations, followed by his brothers, daughters, and grandson. He also gave back by supporting Texas A&M scholarships, helping create opportunities for future Aggies.

Professionally, Marvin spent 40 years with Shell Oil Company, working in production and exploration. His career took him throughout the United States, primarily between Houston and New Orleans, and abroad to France and Cameroon. He valued both the technical rigor of his work and the relationships he formed, and he especially enjoyed his involvement with the Michigan Oil & Gas Association and remained in touch with his friends and coworkers from Shell throughout retirement.

Marvin, or Poppy as his grandchildren called him, will be remembered for his steady character—his unwavering loyalty, deep sense of responsibility, grounded discipline, and quiet kindness. He found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life: hunting on the family farm, planting trees, daffodils in bloom, fireworks along the Galveston Seawall or the Kemah Boardwalk, and ice cream shared with his grandchildren. A lifelong learner and teacher, Marvin believed deeply in passing knowledge, values, and curiosity on to the next generation. Marvin's life was defined not by recognition, but by consistency, integrity, and love for his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Janet Muzny Schneider, and is survived by his daughters, Lara Elizabeth Kearney (husband Donald) of League City, Texas, and Paula Schneider Alexander (husband Bruce) of Durham, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Brendan Michael Kearney, Erin "Nikki" Kearney Evans, Nathan Avery Alexander, and Kathryn Ann Alexander; and his brothers, Arland and Thomas Schneider.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m. from St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Weimar, Texas. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. from the church. Interment will follow in the Muzny family plot in the Weimar Masonic Lodge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved Kathryn and her parents. Full military honors will be conducted by Schulenburg American Legion Post 143.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests, with gratitude, that memorial contributions be directed to the Texas A&M Foundation (http://give.am/) where they will be applied to the Kathryn & Marvin J. Schneider '60 General Rudder Corps Scholarship or the Kathryn & Marvin J. Schneider '60 Endowed Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering. Donations may also be made in Marvin's memory to the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation and the National Kidney Foundation.
