Melinda Stanzel Barneycastle passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 8, 1948, in Liberty, Texas, Melinda spent her formative years in Liberty, where she would later meet her beloved husband of 44 years, Louie Barneycastle.

Melinda is survived by her two daughters, Amanda Owen and Sarah Burdett; her sons-in-law, Michael Owen and Jeff Burdett; and her cherished grandchildren, Austin, Hunter, and Sydney Owen, and Bryn Burdett.

She is also survived by her brother, Chris Stanzel; her sister, Clarissa Stanzel Griffin; and a large extended family, including Roggan and Amanda Stanzel, Conrad and Zoey Stanzel, Calan and Randy White, Denver and Scotland White, and Aspen and Justin Rowe, along with Cooper, Carter, and Reese Rowe, and many other dear relatives.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg. The rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. from the church.

Melinda's life was defined by her devotion to family and her enduring kindness to all who knew her. She also dedicated her life to teaching and the Stanzel Family Foundation.
