Stanley Hubert Correll, 82, died on August 26, 2020 in Temple, Texas after a yearlong battle with dementia and cancer.  His family will hold a private family memorial service.

Stanley was born in Houston, Texas on June 25, 1938 to Arnold George Correll and Gladys Anna Elizabeth Correll.  Stanley served 4.5 years as a Petty Officer First Class in the Navy.  Stanley married his sweetheart, Jo Ann Bentley and was stationed in Hawaii.  After the Navy, Stanley and his family moved back to Houston, Texas where he took a job with Magnaflux Corporation and later was a partner at Houston Concrete Products.

Stanley retired and in 1993, he and Jo Ann moved out of the city to Schulenburg, Texas.  Stanley joined the American Legion McBride Post 143 in Schulenburg and was a member for 24 years.  From 1999-2013 Stanley served as the Sergeant-at-Arms for the Honor Guard participating at 175 veteran's funerals.  In addition, he was an 18-year member of the VFW.

Stanley enjoyed the slower pace in the country.  He focused on the daily care of his animals, visits with his mother until her passing, calls and visits from his children, attending church at Abiding Word Lutheran Church in Gonzales, Texas and listening to his favorite music from the 50's and 60's.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Gladys; Jo Ann Bentley Correll, his wife of more than 52 years; his son Andrew George Correll; his brother Charles Correll; his step-father John Rudolph Schmelter; his step-brothers Richard Schmelter and John Schmelter; and his step-sisters Esther Ruth Weber and Kathy Schmelter.

He is survived by his sister, Joyce Correll Butts; his four daughters and spouses, Christine Correll, Robin and Don Fannin, Janet and Michael Allen, and Amanda Correll and her fiance, Bryan Parks.  Stanley had 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
