Funeral services for Stephen John Matula, age 57, of Schulenburg, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, from Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg with the parish rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. from the chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Lisa Matula; daughter, Amber Matula and fiance Jarrod Mahalitc; daughter, Heather Matula; sister, Connie Taylor and husband David; 2 nieces and 1 nephew; mother-in-law, Shirley Poppe; and brother-in-law, Kyle Poppe and wife Heidi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie Kocian Matula; and father-in-law, Lee Poppe, Jr.
