Funeral services will be held from the Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Moravia, Texas on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11 am.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg, Texas, with the Parish rosary to be recited at 7 pm.

Interment will be in the Moravia Catholic Cemetery in Moravia, Texas.

The family requests donations be made to:  Moravia Catholic Church in Moravia, Texas; or Hospice of South Texas, Hallettsville, Texas; or a charity of one's choice.

Survivors include:  mother-Joan Shimek of Alvin, Texas; wife-Linda Shimek of Moravia, Texas; daughter-Jenna Leihardt/husband Travis of Schulenburg, Texas; son-Darren Shimek/wife Cassie of Tomball, Texas; sisters-Pamela Thrash of Louisiana, Sandra Plaisance/husband Brian of Houston, Texas; brothers-Patrick Shimek/wife Donna of Manvel, Texas and Mark Shimek/wife Cynthia of Schulenburg, Texas; 3 granddaughters-Adriana and Tessa Leihardt and Cameron Shimek.

He is preceded in death by his father-George Shimek.
