William Robert "Bob" Smothers, age 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 17, 2025.  He was surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Schulenburg, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lee Smothers. Their children include Robert Smothers (wife-Beth), Christene Schoener (husband-Matthew), David Smothers (wife-Terrie) and Becky Fulenwider (husband-Alan);  grandchildren, Troy Smothers (wife-Sunday), Morgan Derby (husband-Winston), Cullen Schoener, Tanner Schoener (wife-Madelyn), Lindsey Smothers, Sara Eskridge (husband-Kelvin), Robbie Smothers (wife-Taylor),  and Dylan Fulenwider (fiancé-Alexis); great grandchildren, Delilah, Kylie, Conley, and Wyatt.

Bob was born on July 17, 1942, in Tyler, Texas, to parents, Robert Fey and Elsie Marie Smothers.  He graduated from Wharton High School, where he met the love of his life, Mary Lee.  After attending Sam Houston State University, where he received his teaching degree, Bob and Mary quickly settled in to a simple life in Bloomington, Texas.  They raised four children, while Bob taught science and drove a school bus for 35 years. Following retirement, Bob and Mary moved to "The Farm" in Schulenburg.  Bob enjoyed early morning conversations on his ham radio, camping, professional piddling, cow wrangling and spending time with his church friends and ham radio buddies.  But, above all, Bob loved any time spent with Mary Lee.

Bob was a devoted Christian, husband, and father.  He was the heartbeat of the Smothers Family.  Bob would converse with anyone about anything.  He proudly and eagerly shared stories of his family to anyone who would listen.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Schulenburg. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. from the church.
